Leche de Tigre was born in 2022 inspired by the time the Oliva brothers spent living in Lima, Peru, as children, the restaurant seeks to share their experiences and memories of culture and food by bringing a piece of their Peruvian heritage to San Antonio, Texas inviting diners to a feast of flavors and culture.
The restaurant is a cebichería and pisco bar. A cebiche bar is a gastronomic experience in which the cook prepares different cebiches in front of diners using fresh products while sharing their history and part of the process. At the same time, the pisco bar is an ode to the Peruvian Brandy, obtained from the fermentation and distillation of the grape must. Pisco has a denomination of origin, so the only producing areas of Pisco are the coast of the city of Lima, Ica, Arequipa, Moquegua and the valleys of Locumba, Sama, and Caplina in the city of Tacna in Peru.
When we began to design the brand, we sought to incorporate graphic elements such as the tiger, as a reference to the “leche de tigre”, which is the sauce that gives life to the Peruvian cebiche, and the cantutas, which are the national flower of Peru, which was once considered the sacred flower of the Incas.
For the interior architecture we seek to generate an atmosphere that resembles the sensation of being inside a small cabin in the Amazon jungle of Peru, for which we incorporate natural materials and light colors that will enhance the vibrant and warm green tones of the palm trees and plants. The orange and pink accent colors allude to flowers.
Inside the restaurant, we have a large bar for the cebiche bar and a mural of three tigers in the jungle swimming in milk behind it. This mural was made by the artist Claudio Arguelles.
