Desserto was the remodeling and expansion of a Penthouse in Mexico City, customers were born in the north of the country so they were looking for a warm, welcoming atmosphere that would remind them of home without losing the functionality of the spaces. The main challenge of the project was to balance between Mexican contemporary elements with a simple and sober style that allowed them to enjoy the spaces.

Contemporary Mexican Interior Design seeks to connect people with the environment, provoking emotions and sensations in people, turning empty spaces into homes. It does so through furniture, colors, textures and accessories.

The Mexican style is full of contrasts. These elements combined with the labor of artisans preserve the heritage and tradition of Mexico adapted to modern life, thus seeking the reinterpretation of traditional elements in furniture, accessories, textiles and materials from different parts of the country.

Neutral tones are the starting point of the design, and color contrasts associated with Mexican tradition and culture are added, like Mexican pink and blue from the talavera, Talavera is a type of majolica pottery, distinguished by its vitreous white color base. The authentic talavera only comes from the city of Puebla and the towns of Atlixco, Cholula and Tecali de Herrera, due to the type of clay and the history of the craft.

The terrace was the space where most of the work was done since it would be the family room where they would have visits and meetings with friends and family, so having an outdoor kitchen was a fundamental requirement.

The design of the space revolves around a water mirror that separates the interior and exterior of the space, it has a central island with cactus from the north of the country, and through volcanic rocks floating on the surface you can cross it to reach the outside.
